Position Title: Surveyor/Draftsman
Location: Harvey Mine
Position Summary:
This position performs the essential functions related to the calculations and analysis of underground data to develop technical survey plans, cross sections, and profiles using CADD methods or similar software. Also plays a key role in assisting mine personnel with the mine design, providing efficient delivery of mine maps, and generating reporting to aid the mine engineer and superintendent with improvement plans.
Target Responsibilities:
Accept, embrace and promote the following values of Core Natural Resources: Safety, Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
Uses transit accurately and installs spads accurately in all required areas underground in gate and main entries in a timely and safe manner
Performs and calculates elevation and check surveys to ensure advancement is accurate
Keeps accurate and legible survey notes and various strata heights in daily survey books
Develops maps required for daily work
Takes channel samples, records data and location for sulfur mapping
Locates underground ventilation controls, gas wells, etc. and plots on mine maps
Assists in setting belt drives and section booster drives when being installed
Works and communicates with all levels of mine management
Provides advance sites and turn angles for mining.
Assists Mine engineer with subsidence and ventilation mapping
Walks water lines recording valves and fire outlets and records them on the computer maps
Lines and levels belt transfers and drives units to ensure that belts travel properly.
Calculates royalty payments due
Minimum Requirements
Must be 18 years of age
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (i.e., Word, Outlook, etc.)
Minimum 1 year of experience with MicroStation or equivalent CAD software
Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as schedule requires
Must be able to work other shifts as needed
Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
Must be a detailed oriented person and be able to communicate clearly and effectively
This position is defined by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles as a medium job category and must be able to lift, carry, pull/push, climb, shovel, walk, pry, work on/near moving equipment and perform any job specific activity as required by job assignment
Preferred Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
Associates degree in an engineering related field
Previous underground experience
Experience running a transit on surface or underground
Reports to: Mine Engineer
