The work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and involves the safe and economical operation of equipment normally related to highway construction and maintenance, although an incumbent may be assigned to another department. The class differs from that of a Construction Equipment Operator I and Construction Equipment Operator II by virtue of the fact that a Motor Equipment Operator does not normally operate construction equipment. Depending on assignment, work is performed under the direct or general supervision of a higher level employee. Supervision of others is not normally a function of the class.
