job summary:

Our client is looking to add a Preconstruction Estimator for a project in the bay area. This would be a six-month project that could have the opportunity to go to direct hire. This person will be responsible for leading the budgeting, estimating, and procurement planning efforts for medium to large-scale construction projects. This role plays a critical part in the early phases of project development, working closely with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to deliver accurate estimates, support bid evaluations, and ensure seamless project handoff. The ideal candidate brings excellent technical knowledge, effective communication skills, and a collaborative approach to driving successful outcomes during the preconstruction phase.

responsibilities:

Participate in the key project meetings including Proposal Kickoff, Staffing, Risk Review, etc.

Solicits subcontractor pricing - Obtain budgets estimates, unit pricing and value engineering suggestions

Support Project Management staff with subcontractor procurement process

Manage the subcontractor procurement plan setup and use of templates

Manage the bid for award setup and use of templates

Manage the bid management software (BMS)

Set up subcontractor Bid Evaluation estimate template

Offer subcontractor feedback and recommendations to Project Management Staff

Create and maintain estimate on medium to large sized projects such as:

Support the setup and use of the Project Evaluation Tool, Risk Assessment Tool, and Fee Accountability tools.

Support small sized projects when needed.

Facilitate and coordinate estimate reviews with Owner and Pankow team members

Identify and explore value engineering solutions and options

Create & review with project team the Basis of Estimate
