Job Description:
As a Journeyman HVAC Service Mechanic, you are the go-to resource for your fellow service mechanics, offering technical support, guidance, and training. Your expertise ensures the smooth operation of HVAC systems through inspections, testing, repairs, and regular maintenance. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in maintaining the comfort and safety of the environments you serve while also helping to elevate the skills of your team.
Duties/Responsibilities:
You have a sharp eye for detail and a knack for diagnosing HVAC system performance. Your experience with a variety of systems, from split systems to chillers, allows you to tackle challenges head-on, ensuring every system operates at peak performance.
You excel at coordinating work processes, especially on large projects. Your ability to see the big picture while managing the details makes you a natural leader on-site, guiding the team to successful project completion.
You're not just proficient with hand tools, power tools, gauges, and measuring equipment-you're a master of them. Whether it's troubleshooting or planned maintenance, you handle every task with precision and care.
Building strong relationships with customers comes naturally to you. You take pride in explaining the work you've done in a way that leaves customers informed and satisfied, knowing they can trust you with their HVAC needs.
You understand the importance of keeping everyone in the loop. Your clear communication and thorough documentation ensure that all project stakeholders are aligned and informed every step of the way.
You enjoy being a resource for others. Whether it's offering technical support, guiding technicians, or coordinating multi-tech service calls, you're there to help your team grow and succeed.

Whether it's purchasing materials or managing your service vehicle's stock, you're resourceful and efficient, always finding ways to streamline processes and keep things running smoothly.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED certificate
Valid driver's license
Member of Union 142 or willing to sign up
Minimum of 5 years of HVAC Service experience.
Must possess EPA Universal license/certification
Knowledge of brand specific controls.
Advanced knowledge of service processes, techniques and codes is required.
Professional demeanor, solid interpersonal skills with good written and oral communication capability.
Demonstrates strong business ethics at all times.
Required skills:
HVAC Unitary skills:
Split systems - all brands up to 120 tons
Mini-split systems - up to 3 ton heat pump and all brands MultiZone
VRV Heat Pump and VRV Heat Recovery
(RTU) roof top units - all brands up to 150+ tons
Water source heat pumps - all brands up to 120 tons
Self-contained systems - water-cooled and air cooled with remote condenser
CRAC units - Leibert/data-aire/Stultz.
HVAC Airside skills:
Fan Powered Box
VAV Boxes
VFD Theory
Air Handler: Theory of AHU operation and Theory of control valve operation
Exhaust fans: Centrifugal Up blast Roof Fans, Centrifugal Inline Fan and Vane Axial High Pressure Fans.
Pumps and Piping Systems skills:
Pumps -- ability to identify all components
Pump configurations and chiller configurations
Flow Control - automatic/circuit setter
Piping - strainers and backflow devices.
Preferred skills:
HVAC Chiller skills:
Air-cooled chillers - Scroll/reciprocating, Screw, Screw with VFD and Magnetic
Water Cooled Chiller - Scroll/reciprocating, Screw, Variable Speed Screw and Magnetic
Centrifugal Chiller Theory.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Must be able to climb service ladders/ stairs to access Mechanical Equipment. The locations will vary from basements to rooftops.
Have the ability to work in various weather conditions from summer heat to possible frozen road conditions.
