Job Description
Our client is seeking a Senior Lead Estimator with estimating experience with steel manufactured products and associated welding and other fabrication processes to add to their team in Midland, TX! This role is with a well-established, family-owned infrastructure company, specifically within their Utility Division. Successful candidates must pass a background check, MVR check and drug screening as a requirement for these positions. Prepare detailed cost breakdowns, including labor, materials, and production expenses. Collaborate with purchasing to understand steel and other raw material pricing. Evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to determine cost-effective solutions. Assist in the development of bid proposals and pricing strategies. Maintain and update cost databases, historical pricing, and estimation tools. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards. Communicate with clients to clarify project requirements and provide technical guidance as needed. Monitor industry trends, material costs, and manufacturing advancements to enhance estimation accuracy. Support project management and production teams in cost control and budget adherence. Qualifications & Skills: Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred Experience: 3+ years of experience in estimating within a manufacturing preferably in utility pole or steel structure fabrication. Must be comfortable reading fabrication drawings and design calculations. Needs to be able to interpret and create bill of materials and perform material take-offs. Should have knowledge of labor hours and SG&A rates. Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Need someone who can be creative and help refine estimating tools and software. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
