Job Description
JOB REQUIREMENTS: ASI is seeking a qualified individual to be a painter
and fabricator on our shop floor. The ideal candidate would be skilled
in both industrial coatings and fabrication. Responsibilities include:
Inspecting, cleaning, and preparing part surfaces for paint Masking
parts and plug holes to print/drawing notes to prevent overspray Using
spray equipment, including conventional HVLP and electrostatic equipment
Applying primers and topcoats with high level of consistency and quality
Repair cosmetic defects using fillers, putties, and tools Work in
machine department on shears, press brakes, folders, drill presses, and
more Work on assembly floor Painting will be about 50% of the time;
fabrication will be about 50% of the time Apply coatings, such as paint,
ink, or lacquer, to protect or decorate workpiece surfaces, using spray
guns, pens, or brushes. Examine finished surfaces of workpieces to
verify conformance to specifications and retouch any defective areas.
Clean and maintain tools and equipment, using solvents, brushes, and
rags. Read job orders and inspect workpieces to determine work
procedures and materials required. Select and mix ingredients to prepare
coating substances according to specifications, using paddles or
mechanical mixers. Clean surfaces of workpieces in preparation for
coating, using cleaning fluids, solvents, brushes, scrapers, steam,
sandpaper, or cloth. Conceal blemishes in workpieces, such as nicks and
dents, using fillers such as putty. \*\*\*\*\* OTHER EXPERIENCE AND
QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have the following
qualifications: High school diploma or GED equivalent 2-5 years spray
application experience using pressure feed conventional equipment, a
plus Experience in producing high quality \"showroom\" finishes on
projects, a plus Knowledge of epoxy and urethane primers/topcoats, a
plus Ability to plan out paint projects to meet production needs, a plus
Ability to stand on ladders, kneel, bend down, and stretch to apply
masking tape and spray painting General mechanical aptitude Basic
blueprint reading skills Experience with common hand tools and power
tools Ability to work with others and independently Welding experience a
plus Brake press/plasma table/saw/shear experience, a plus Effective
