Compensation:

Generally seeking $35.00/hr to $42.00/hr (depending on experience) there may be some additional flexibility for well qualified candidates. Overtime is paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

Job Description:

HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major automotive manufacturer to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for our facility in Parma, OH. As a Maintenance Supervisor in our stamping and metal facility, you will drive the success of the Metal Assembly area by leading a team of skilled tradespeople, ensuring effective use of personnel, materials, and equipment, and embracing advanced manufacturing technology. You are integral to the continuous improvement of maintenance activities that support our core Safety, People, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC) initiatives. This position requires hands-on leadership, technical know-how, and a commitment to fostering a positive and productive team culture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of 10 to 15 multi-skilled trades professionals within the Metal Assembly area.
  • Review, report, and communicate accomplishments from previous shifts, ensuring seamless transitions and continuous improvement.
  • Attend daily morning meetings, provide a recap, and strategize daily objectives with the crew.
  • Oversee maintenance of equipment such as Komatsu and IHI presses (progressive and transfer), Fanuc welding robots, vision and spot welding systems, and other critical machinery.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions, determine root causes, and implement both immediate and long-term corrective actions.
  • Manage and request manpower resources as needed; handle timekeeping, disciplinary actions, and troubleshooting support.
  • Ensure all material bins are stocked and replenished.
  • Prepare and submit breakdown analysis and maintenance-related downtime reports, monitor work orders, and participate in audits.
  • Ensure compliance with all corporate and plant safety policies; champion safe work practices and maintain high standards of housekeeping.
  • Communicate effectively with skilled trades, production teams, and supporting departments regarding part issues and maintenance requirements.
  • Drive change by embracing challenges and actively participating in shaping a positive, inclusive, and high-performance team culture.

Core Skills and Requirements:

  • Willingness and flexibility to work any assigned shift, including daily, weekend, and holiday overtime as needed.
  • Proven experience in supervising skilled trades teams, especially in a dynamic metal or assembly plant environment.
  • General knowledge and troubleshooting familiarity with robotics, PLCs, HMI, and CMMS tools.
  • Technical ability to interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and to manage a variety of machine, assembly, and facility systems.
  • Sound understanding of mechanical/electrical concepts and safe industrial work practices.
  • Strong competency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email platforms (e.g., Lotus Notes, Microsoft Outlook, etc).
  • High-level analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills to foster motivation, accountability, and teamwork.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously, partnering with management, and resolving issues with a focus on results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to developing, training, and evaluating team members.
  • Ability to lead by example, communicate openly, and maintain a consistent floor presence.
  • Strong focus on paperwork accuracy and willingness to engage in process improvement initiatives.

Education/Experience:

  • Associate degree (or higher) in Engineering or a related technical field is required.
  • Technical training or skilled trade certification strongly desired.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of supervisory experience; mechanical engineering experience required.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant industry experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's (or Masters) degree in Instructional Design/Technology/Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in automotive manufacturing training.
  • Skilled in creating instructor and participant guides.
  • Experience with graphic design tools for training promotion.

Work Environment / Other Info:

  • This role will take place at a manufacturing facility that operates 24/7. Candidates must be open to working any shift. Shifts are as follows: 1st shift = 6:00am to 2:45pm, 2nd shift = 2:30pm to 10:30pm, 3rd shift = 10:30pm to 6:30am
  • This role will work Monday to Friday and every other Saturday.
  • This role will have regular overtime possibly up to 16 hours per week (but it may be less). Any OT will be paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.
