POSITION DESCRIPTION

Currently, HGL has a position open for a Field Engineer to support the St. Louis Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP) project in St. Louis, Missouri. The engineering responsibilities will include ensuring all technical specifications identified in work scopes and design plans are executed properly. The position will also require performing daily coordination of construction and remediation field activities.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

  • Oversee day-to-day remediation activities including soil excavation, groundwater treatment, and waste management operations.
  • Perform inspections, verify field work meets project specifications, permits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Working closely with the Quality Control Department to prepare daily reports as-needed, photo documentation, and assist in progress tracking and as-built records.
  • Support layout, staking, and surveying tasks for excavation and various engineered system installations (i.e. treatment system, shoring system, etc.) and ensure proper interpretation of plans and specifications in the field.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce project-specific health and safety plans, conduct safety observations, and participate in toolbox talks.
  • Assist with coordinating subcontractor activities, ensuring schedules, work quality, and environmental controls are met.
  • Identify field issues early, communicate effectively with project management, and propose practical solutions.
  • Support other project-related surveying and mapping efforts.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • BA/BS in Construction Management, Engineering, Geology, Chemistry, Science or a related academic field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of directly related experience or equally relevant education/experience.
  • Proficiency MS Office, including MS Word and MS Excel is required.
  • Must be able to work in a construction-type environment and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Effective oral and written communication, presentation skills, and the ability to complete projects independently and / or in small teams.
  • Attention to detail and quality required.

Preferred Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT – Preferred, not required

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar software.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).

The work schedule for this position is Monday-Thursday, 6:30am-5:00pm. 40 hours per week.

The salary range for this position ranges from $63,600-$95,400. This position's final salary can be impacted by various factors including, but not limited to, contractual requirements, geographic location, job-related education, training, experience, and skills.
