We are looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Product Support and Logistics Division as a Design Engineer in Peoria, IL.

The Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream from procurement to design and manufacturing to distribution. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts DistributionofCat Parts, Integrated Logistics, segment Procurementand thedesign andmanufactureof Wear Components (Undercarriage and GET) and Maintenance Components (Seals, Tubes & Hardware, Hose & Couplings, Fluids and Filters).

Job Summary:

As a Design Engineer you will design and develop new ground engaging tools and products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to observe products being tested in the field, collaborate with suppliers on product development, and participate in on-site supplier visits.

What You Will Do:

  • Design and develop new Ground Engaging Tools (GET)
  • Utilize design targets and innovative ideas to solve customer needs
  • Interface with product groups to ensure GET meets machine requirements
  • Scan components and analyze results
  • Field follow to inspect and review designs at mine sites

What You Have (Required Skills):

  • Bachelors degree in engineering
  • Analytical Thinking : Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Effective Communications : Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering : Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.
  • Product Design and Development : Knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.

What Will Put You Ahead (Preferred Skills):

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in GET
  • Expert in Creo and team center
  • Use Creo simulate, FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with steel casting manufacturing
  • Documentation experience

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00
