JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Electrical Technician will work with the HVAC Building Management Computer System and will assist in maintaining the overall performance of building systems, including electrical work, plumbing, and HVAC systems. If they are a certified electrician, they will be responsible for pulling Electrical Permits & Inspections as needed. With a strong understanding of Winterthurs electrical idiosyncrasies, they will plan and perform preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on electrical systems as directed by the Supervisor.
Compensation: $30.00 per hour

Work Schedule: Monday Friday, 40 hours/week with rotating weekend coverage
Responsibilities:
- Install new & modify existing electrical equipment. Maintains and repairs electrical system components. Trouble shoots circuits, controllers and other building system operating equipment. Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement. Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments. Operates and maintains high voltage switchgear and controls; repairs and maintains motor control centers and programmable logic controls. Troubleshoots and repairs primary distribution system malfunctions such as ground fault tracing and cable replacement. Plans electrical secondary system additions or modifications. Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices. Reads, employs, and updates electrical panel schedules and building or system blueprints.
- Participates with the ongoing Preventative Maintenance Program which involves collaborating with other MEP staff to perform preventative maintenance on specific equipment
- HVAC building systems. Assist with the installation, troubleshooting & repair of building systems. Assist with troubling pneumatic & integrated software. Maintain and repair pumps, fans & motors. Assist other MEP staff in performing maintenance and service repairs on heating, pneumatic, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Aid in installing new units or replacement parts for existing units according to specifications and established safety guidelines.
- Safety work orders. Works on tasks that pertain to safety items, such as working on emergency lighting
- Set up for special events. Assist with setting up Audio & Electrical components for special events, such as weddings.
Minimum Experience: High School diploma or equivalent with 5 years of experience in the facilities maintenance and/or construction field with an emphasis on electrical and building system controls
Preferred Experience: Eight years experience in facilities maintenance and/or construction field with an emphasis on electrical trade. Experience in facilities maintenance that uses work order system that involves planning /scheduling and predictive/preventative maintenance programs. Licensed Electrician in the State of Delaware or the ability to obtain such a license within 6 months of employment.
Knowledge/Skills:
- Familiar with confined space safety
- Working knowledge of HVAC equipment and electrical systems
- Ability to implement planned maintenance programs
- Able to recognize possible asbestos conditions and bring to the attention of their supervisor
- Ability to perform troubleshooting and emergency repairs to various building systems. Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to use hand power tools applicable to the trade
- Familiar with applied plumbing, communications, electrical codes, and requirements
- Good customer service skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass defensive driving course
Essential Functions:
- Capable of climbing ladders
- Capable lifting and carrying 50 pounds.
- May be required to work in a museum environment and use extra caution and procedures when working around historical objects.
- The position may also require work in confined spaces, around backhoes, bucket trucks, cranes and other heavy equipment.
- The applicant must be capable of working outside in both hot and cold conditions.
