Services may be provided for existing or proposed projects in a variety of sectors, including for example public works, transportation, commercial, communications, energy, and industrial.
Organizationally, this position will be in the Structural Practice area of the Houston North Loop Office, but the ideal candidate will have the ability to support other practice areas including Building Enclosure, MEP, due diligence, and facility asset management. This is an entry level engineering consulting position that will expose you to all of the practice areas that Terracon Facilities supports, and also encourage you to engage with the other Terracon service lines, especially in the East Texas region.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
- Developing engineering professional; assignments are designed to develop knowledge and abilities.
- Assist in research, data collection, field observation, inspection, and field and laboratory testing. Prepare associated reports or sections of larger reports.
- Evaluate mostly routine laboratory and field data for inclusion in reports.
- Consult with other technical people and supervisor on routine and less complex projects.
- May perform basic calculations and engineering analysis
- Drafts routine proposals and assists in the preparation of more complex proposals.
- Performs plan drafting using CAD software.
- May work with engineering technician crews in testing, observations and data gathering activities on project sites and prepare daily reports documenting activities and findings.
- Works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer.
- Participate on all phases of projects including client management, proposal development, field testing and surveying, analysis, deliverable preparation, project closeout, and client follow-ups.
- Self-motivated to learn new knowledge and skills, and pursue necessary licenses and certificates depending on project needs.
- Client communication with excellent oral and written skills.
- Plan for and participate in business development activities to identify, develop, win, and execute project opportunities and also build and maintain client relationships.
- Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related disciplines of structural engineering, architectural engineering, and construction management. Postgraduate degrees are preferred.
- Proficiency with common Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.
- Preferred skills include operation of drafting software including AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, or similar;
- Experience with finite element analysis software such as SAP2000, RISA, Ansys, STAAD, or similar; programing language MATLAB, MathCAD, or similar; and statistical analysis is desired.
- Valid drivers license with acceptable violation history.
- Should currently hold an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) or be able to obtain one within 6 months, with a career goal of obtaining a Professional Engineer license in the State of Texas.
