JOB SUMMARY :
The General Maintenance III/Electrician performs skilled electrical duties in the maintenance of buildings and facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Additional duties may be assigned.
- Effectively utilizes district technologies appropriate to the position and assumes responsibility for attending district training needed to successfully perform designated responsibilities as directed by the supervisor .
- Maintains regular attendance.
- Complies with State Law and District policies and regulations.
- Repairs, installs, and maintains electrical systems including interior/exterior conduit, light and power circuits, motors, transformers, generators, switches, switchboards, distribution systems and control circuitry.
- Installs and maintains electrical parts of shop machinery and power tools.
- Replaces switches, receptacles, fuses, fixtures, circuits, fluorescent tubes and ballasts.
- Troubleshoots electrical, fire and communication systems with or without prints, schematics and diagnostic electrical equipment.
- Estimates cost of materials and labor in relation to jobs.
- Works with high voltage
- Performs preventive maintenance and repair tasks.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS :

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE :
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in electrical work on a journeyman level.
- Must have general commercial electrical experience.
- Must have or be able to obtain a valid Arizona commercial driver’s license (CDL) with an air brake and combination vehicle endorsement.
LANGUAGE SKILLS :
- Ability to write reports business correspondence, etc.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS :
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to interface effectively with other departments, school personnel, other maintenance staff, and business contacts from outside of the District.
- Possesses And successfully uses the following skills:
- Skill in electrical installation and repair at Journeyman’s level.
- Knowledge of electrical tasks and test equipment.
- Knowledge of electrical symbols and schematic diagrams.
- Knowledge of department organization, methods, standards, and practices.
- Knowledge of the theory of electricity.
- Knowledge of Electrician’s tools, and electrical test equipment.
REASONING ABILITY :
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule from.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
- Ability to accurately perform assigned tasks.
- Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Board Policies.
- Ability to promote harmonious working relationships with staff and outside business representatives.
- Possesses excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal relationship skills.
