Job Description
Are you an experienced heavy equipment operator who loves wildlife and the outdoors? We are seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Habitat Crew. You will work in some of the most beautiful parts of Utah to implement habitat restoration projects such as river and stream restoration, install fish barriers and fish passage structures, construct and maintain ponds, and perform maintenance of DWR and partner properties such as road grading.

The Agency/Division
Click Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• experience operating various heavy equipment such as excavators, graders, loaders, dozers, and backhoes.
• the ability to listen and follow directions.
• the ability to maintain and repair equipment
• a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

• knowledge of stream restoration techniques and experience implementing these techniques
• the ability to create estimates of costs for future projects.

Special Working Conditions or Physical Requirements:
Risks which require the use of special safety precautions and/or equipment, e.g., working around operating machines, working with contagious diseases or hazardous chemicals, etc.
Work requires physical exertion. May require the ability to stand; walk over rough surfaces; bend, crouch. stoop. stretch. reach. lift moderately heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner.
Work Schedule:
Typically Monday-Thursday
May be eligible for some telework *
Certifications/Licenses:
CDL May be obtained within 6 months or hire. Preference may be given to those with a current CDL.
Miscellaneous:
Ephraim is the home base however, most of the work requires travel around the state.
Other Requirements:
CDL will be subject to drug testing.
