WSP is currently initiating a search for a Structural Engineering Assistant Vice President for our Transportation Team!
This position can sit out of our Columbus, Cleveland, or Cincinnati, OH offices.
This Opportunity
Provides subject matter technical support and leadership for multi-site/phase due diligence, investigation, remediation, improvement, and/or construction of building and infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include the research, design, concept development, planning, and construction of load-bearing structures or structural elements, such as buildings, bridges, roadways, and mechanical structures. Provides situational guidance to PMs and managers that address current and future challenges, and that documentation and recommendations accurately account for and address risk, innovation, and future-ready opportunities. Provides leadership with ensuring that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, structural soundness, and functionality.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead design, plan development tasks and perform structural analysis and design with a concentration on Ohio highway structures
- Actively maintain project scope, design changes and project budget and schedule while assigned to projects
- Mentoring, training and developing junior staff and others performing similar work
- Ability to provide close coordination with others on the project as well as independent QC/QA reviews
- Visiting with clients for growing our business and long-term positioning and keeping these clients and other team members well informed of upcoming opportunities
- Representing WSP at targeted professional society meetings, including presenting at conferences as appropriate and approved
- And other duties as assigned
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- P.E. registration in Ohio and ability to acquire in other states
- 10+ years' experience in bridge engineering
- Past experience leading a department or a project team
- Strong technical skills in structural analysis and design of various types of bridge structures
- Accustomed to working in a team environment on challenging projects and leading design teams in delivering high quality projects
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120) preferred.
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
