By joining our Department of Highways, District 7, Project Development Branch, Utilities Section as a Transportation Engineer Supervisor in Fayette County, you'll have the opportunity to plan, assign, and supervise the work of the Utility Section Staff in District Seven.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Approve utility agreements and other legally binding documents. Enforce the KY Transportation Cabinets Utility Accommodation Policy.
• Analyze, review and resolve outstanding utility issues.
• Develop Strategies for relocation of facilities.
• Coordinate with Design and Right of Way Sections on projects.

Ideal candidate will have experience in:

• Approve utility agreements and other legally binding documents. Enforce the KY Transportation Cabinets
• Must have two years of engineering experience. A master's in engineering will substitute for 1 year of the required experience.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to multi-task

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: See Special Requirements.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period. Engineering decisions recommended by individuals without a Kentucky Professional Engineering License must be approved by a KRS Chapter 322 Licensed Professional Engineer until licensure is obtained.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the office and in the field. Will be exposed to risks inherent to construction sites which require the following of safety procedures.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
