We want you to support the Fleet Ballistic Missile (FBM) D5LE2 Program in the Propulsion, Structures, Ordnance, and Controls (PSOC) team by joining the Structures Mechanical Engineering group as a D5LE2 Nose Fairing Structural Designer for natural composites.

The selected candidate will be involved in developing basic data, identifying knowledge gaps and plan to fill it, detail design, development technical test planning and execution, as well as identifying and collaborating with suppliers.
This involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Models will be prepared using CREO. Occasional travel may be required for supplier site visits, customer meetings, program meetings, or test execution.

In this position, the design engineer will work with cross functional teams within the FBM team, across multiple sites and communicate regularly with customers. Excellent communication skills are required to ensure the team effectively meets requirements and achieves milestones.

Note: US citizenship and ability to obtain Top Secret clearance

As a Structures Design Engineer for Nose Fairing on the FBM Life Extension 2 (LE2) program, you will:

Work with related SMEs to plan, develop, and execute test plan for qualifying natural composites

Collaborate with subcontracts to identify potential suppliers to meet supply and manufacturing needs

Assist in technical development of requirements and SOWs for quotes

Develop test plan and estimate materials required

Execute in a fast-paced environment

Design/create concepts and detailed design of commodity to allow for stress analysis to inform and tailor design Bachelors or higher degree in an Engineering or related field

Advanced knowledge of CREO or equivalent tool

Experience with designing composite material

Must be a US Citizen and have the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance Design experience utilizing Model Based Engineering tools

Proven self-starter with demonstrated capability to proactively work through difficult technical, project and resource challenges

3+ years of relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer in a design role

Demonstrated performance of being part of program development reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)

Research and Development experience with new, emerging materials

Material qualification experience
