020-TV Operations - 5101-020 Broadband Technician 24351 El Toro Rd, Laguna Woods, CA 92637, USA Req #790 Friday, May 30, 2025 020-TV Operations - 5101-020 Broad Technician JOB SUMMARY : Under general supervision, troubleshoots and maintains the installed drop system in resident manors; performs related work as required. Work is usually performed independently of others; involves regular contact with other divisions, departments and with residents in their homes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS : Troubleshoots, maintains the feeder distribution system and maintains and extends the installed drop system; utilizes mathematical equations and formulas related to installed cable systems; and identifies, locates and repairs common problems from premises to the tap. Uses AC electronic theory and calculations in broadband cable system applications. Operates equipment needed to maintain a feeder distribution system. Explains use of equipment, including any necessary cable boxes or other accessories to residents. Drives a vehicle to meetings, workshops, and other job related responsibilities. Regular attendance is required. All duties performed on-site for the Community. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Follows up on assigned written resident complaint requests, corrects problems, discusses with residents or refers to a supervisor and notes disposition. Maintains job time and material records. EQUIPMENT OPERATED : Small hand tools, vehicle, computer, printer, copier, telephone. WORK ENVIRONMENT : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to dust, inside resident manors and normal outdoor elements. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS : Graduation from high school and experience in electronics and repair work or equivalent combination of education and experience that produces the following: Knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the job. Knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools and materials of the electrical trade. Knowledge of broadband cable system. Knowledge of numerous test equipment and troubleshooting techniques. Ability to understand and apply rectification and regulation in ferroresonant and switch power supplies. Ability to apply theory of operation, explain types of modules, and perform setup procedures to rough balance major brands of trunk/bridger and distribution amplifiers. Ability to read and write work-related job instructions in English. Ability to locate, correct and adjust cable-wiring systems. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to communicate effectively with others in English. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and residents. Skill in the use and care of tools, materials and equipment used in the cable trade. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS : Possession of a valid California drivers license. Ability to pass respiratory pulmonary function test. Ability to pass qualitative and/or quantitative respirator fit test. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, see and use hands to finger, grasp, feel and reach.
