Transformer/Equipment Technician Operator
Under the supervision of a Transformer/Equipment Technician Foreman and General Foremen, this position will be responsible and accountable for thepletion of in-field jobs on an assigned or emergency basis.
In-field jobs consist of maintenance, installation and removal of high voltage transformers and associated equipment, troubleshooting a variety of electrical power equipment and the associated control circuit. This position will also be responsible for switching, maintenance, and construction of substation equipment that includes implementation of all necessary protective measures for preventative and reactive maintenance duties, and perform routine substation inspections. Provide an efficient and safe work environment for employees and contractors in strict accordance with all customer andpany practices and procedures along with leadership for all apprentices.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Safety and Environmental knowledge.
Able to obtain and maintain security access from customer and work unescorted on customer related properties, substation and ROW's at all times.
Meet residency requirement of 30 miles driving distance or less from the city listed on the job posting to the employee's residence.
Ability to verballymunicate effectively and accurately.
Be available during off-duty hours, for call outs and overtime as directed.
Proficientputer skills/ familiar with Microsoft Office suite
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Work within all applicable safety rules.
Work both independently and in group settings.
Effective verbal and writtenmunication skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old.
Willingness to work extended hours and travel as required.
Be available during off-duty hours, for call outs and overtime as directed.
Must be able to work in energized substations and power plants containing voltages up to and including 345,000 volts.
Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
Able to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work
Able to read and understand drawings, schematics, and operating instructions, and manuals relating to station transmission equipment.
Must meet residency requirement of 30 miles driving distance or less from the city(s) listed, or within the county(s) listed.
Familiar and able to use Microsoft.
Strong troubleshooting skills.
Effective verbal and writtenmunication skills.
Education & Experience
Minimum of a recognized Certificate of Accreditation from an approved College or University, or equivalent job experience.
College transcripts will be required to ensure minimum courses have been successfullypleted. If the candidate does not meet educational requirements, he or she will be required toplete the above.
Management shall have the exclusive right to determine degree equivalency.
Experience as a substation operator, journeyperson substation electrician is required. (not required for apprentices)
Pre-Screen
Upon offer, employees may be required toplete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.
License & Certifications:
Validmercial driver's license (CDL) class "A" required within 6 months of employment.
Physical Requirements:
RARE (up to 10%): climbing poles, climbing stairs.
OCCASIONAL (up to 33%): sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, crawling, climbing on/off truck, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., climbing ladders, balancing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
FREQUENT (up to 66 %): standing, walking, reading, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, color vision, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 10 lbs.
CONTINUOUS (up to 100%): sense of touch, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, hearing-speech range.

Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather whilepleting work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able tomunicate with others, read, write, andprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, andmunicate and handle conflict professionally.
Works alone in energized high voltage electrical substations up to 345,000 volts.
Must work in close proximity of energized electrical equipment up to 345,000 volts.
Exposed to static and induced voltages.
Exposed to Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF).
May be exposed to Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave Frequency.
Works around hazardous equipment.
Works with energized parts or equipment.
May be subjected to high intensity and stressful situations.
