Machine Operator Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled machine operator to apply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to work order specifications. The successful candidate will ensure processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition, while maintaining the processing area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner. Additionally, the role requires accurate information entry and completion of any other tasks as assigned. Responsibilities Operate cranes, forklifts, and other material handling equipment. Pull, inspect, and verify product before processing. Properly and safely set up equipment to run material according to setup note specifications. Process setup notes according to work order specifications. Verify that product meets setup note specifications per written work instructions and record measurements. Communicate with sales representatives regarding changes or clarifications to orders. Perform equipment preventive maintenance. Properly enter and delete material identification tags per written instructions. Perform general clean-up and assist in material packaging per written work instructions and work order. Maintain issued measurement equipment in working condition. Properly operate weighing scale and record inspection measurements. Identify, record, and segregate scrap and any non-conforming material. Provide feedback to supervision regarding machine efficiency and product quality. Complete job responsibilities safely, avoiding unsafe situations for oneself or others. Train others when required and assist in lean and/or quality activities. Essential Skills Certification in material handler position. High school diploma or GED. Ability to read and write. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Basic math skills. Saw operation experience of at least 2 years, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment. Ability to utilize math for inventory tracking, read rulers, and interpret blueprints. Experience with inventory control on work orders. Additional Skills & Qualifications Previous warehouse experience, especially in the metals industry. Previous forklift experience. Use of handheld measuring tools. Computer literacy. Why Work Here? Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.20 - $22.20/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
