un Theater Scenic Carpenter (South Miami) compensation: Compensation according to experience level starting at $20hr Seeking candidates to add to roster of Theater Scenic Carpenters for upcoming Theater Productions Experience in Theater Scenic Carpentry for stage productions is highly preferred, but will consider candidates with finish carpentry experience, and laborers familiar with working in a stage theater environment. No calls will be taken, responses without resumes and or narrative of your specific experience will not be considered. - Scenic Carpenters are responsible for building the theatrical set and stage scenery for shows, and all finishing work involved, texturing, painting etc. to get the stage set to show ready. - Must be familiar with and safely skilled in working with all typical woodworking shop tools. - Aside from woodworking skillset, we work with all other materials, fabrics, foams, paper products, whatever it takes to build the stage scenery and props necessary for a show. - Must be flexible, adaptable and show the ambition and creativity to problem solve the creative carpentry tasks at hand. - Skills in rigging are also a bonus as set pieces may need to hung safely over actors and stage performance areas. - Scenic Carpenters typically work from build plans - Must be able able to repetitively lift and move 50 pound loads, Scenic Carpenters are responsible for acquiring and moving in and out all materials which can be bulk loads of lumber, from location to loan action, as well ad large and bulky set prices which are ultimately constructed. - There is always a fair amount of prep work getting ready for a new show, including tearing down the previous theater set and moving it alll elsewhere, - Painting skills are also a bonus. Scenic Carpenters are always expected to handle the painting of theater set pieces, and sometimes are painting as a base for specialist scenic artist to complete the work. But generally our carpenters do most the paining and finishes. - Clean driver license and familiarity/comfort with driving small to large box trucks preferred. - Must be able to work shifts which may be typical 8am to 5pm, but more likely afternoon, late afternoon into the evening.
