The MTO/Estimator is a key contributor to the success of our construction projects. This role is responsible for producing accurate material take-offs from construction drawings, supporting cost estimation efforts, and ensuring the timely procurement and delivery of materials to job sites. This position works closely with project managers, field supervisors, suppliers, and the purchasing team to ensure material accuracy, availability, and cost-efficiency for each project. Key Responsibilities Interpret construction blueprints, specifications, and technical documents to perform detailed material take-offs for post-frame building projects. Create comprehensive and accurate material lists, coordinating with the purchasing department to generate purchase orders. Collaborate with project managers and field supervisors to identify and resolve discrepancies or updates in material needs. Track and maintain project material schedules to ensure timely delivery and avoid job site delays. Assist in maintaining accurate purchasing and estimating records in the project management system. Support the estimating team with quantity take-offs and cost-related input during the bid process. Contribute to the continuous improvement of material tracking, procurement processes, and cost analysis. Qualifications 2+ years of experience in construction estimating, material take-offs, purchasing, or related construction fields. Prior experience with post-frame, steel-frame, or similar construction preferred. Strong understanding of construction drawings, materials, and building methods. Proficient in reading and interpreting construction documents. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and suppliers. Experience using construction management software (e.g., Buildertrend, SmartBuild, or similar). Associate or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required. Preferred Skills Experience working in a design/build construction firm. Familiarity with building codes and material compliance. Microsoft Excel and/or estimating software proficiency.
