Mechanical Systems Estimator Description

Our client in the Construction industry is seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Systems Estimator to join their team in Clinton, MD. In this key role, you will prepare precise cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems on commercial and institutional construction projects ranging from $1.5M up to $15M. You will be one of two Estimators, reporting directly to the President, and working closely with project managers, purchasing, and field teams to ensure comprehensive and aligned estimates. Strong prior experience estimating mechanical systems is essential, along with familiarity with regional vendors and suppliers across the Washington D.C., Maryland, and Northern Virginia markets. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise, accuracy, and strong communication skills to support successful project bidding and execution. Mechanical Systems Estimator Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for mechanical systems
• Review project specifications and drawings to understand requirements and scope
• Collaborate with internal teams to gather input and ensure alignment on estimates
• Develop clear, detailed, and competitive proposals and bid packages
• Stay informed on material costs, labor rates, subcontractor pricing, and industry trends
• Utilize estimating software and Excel effectively
• Assist in refining estimating procedures and sharing best practices across the estimating team
• Participate in bid reviews and post-bid evaluations with leadership
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing

Mechanical Systems Estimator Qualifications

• 5+ years estimating experience in HVAC, heating, ventilation, and/or plumbing systems required
• 2+ years experience utilizing estimating software required
• Ability to work in the office required
