ASSIGNMENT DETAILS

TES is hiring two (2) temporary Plumbers.

Duration: This role is anticipated to last roughly 5.5 - 6 months.

Compensation and Benefits: $48.74/hour. Eligible for Mid-Level Benefits including medical plans, paid holidays, and vacation/sick leave

Location: 100% on site in La Jolla

Work schedule(s): Tuesday-Saturday, 2:00 PM-10:30 or Monday-Friday, 6:00 AM-2:30 PM

DESCRIPTION
  • Under supervision, perform the full range of skilled journey-level plumbing work.
  • Respond to trouble calls; inspect buildings, facilities, plumbing systems and components to ascertain required repairs.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and/or renovate buildings, facilities, and equipment in underground piping systems, building piping, fixtures, building equipment and controls.
  • Coordinate services with campus customers and assist with questions regarding work performed. Provide expeditious, professional and courteous customer service.
QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have the ability to:

  • Respond to trouble calls. Inspect buildings, facilities, plumbing systems and components to ascertain required repairs through proper troubleshooting techniques, and use of various test equipment and schematics.

  • Repair and/or cleans underground piping systems to include: domestic water, sewers, storm drains, and other related systems. Excavate and lay out joins or supports, protect and backfill as appropriate.

  • Repair, modify and/or clean industrial and domestic water piping systems, sewer and other drain lines, air gas and vacuum lines and other systems typical to campus. Lay out joins or supports, protect and finish as appropriate.

  • Install, repair and/or clean various plumbing fixtures such as faucets, toilets, traps and drains, water fountains and other similar devices.

  • Repair and/or replaces building equipment such as hot water heaters, heat exchangers, pumps and other equipment and components connected to piping systems in buildings.

  • Install and/or repair meters, valves, regulators, safety devices and other components necessary to properly control liquid and gas systems.

  • Perform silver brazing, soft soldering, caulking, threading, compression joints, flaring and other methods common to the trade to repair and/or modify plumbing pipes and tubing.

  • Perform electrical, heliarc, oxyacetylene welding to join and secure piping systems and related components.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, schematics and manufacturers’ specs to diagnose plumbing problems and determine appropriate job requirements and procedures.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Universal background Check, References, and DMV checks and clearances are required prior to hiring.
  • Required to hold valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies/procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program.

This position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter pursuant to the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and Requires immediate reporting of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect of anyone under the age of 18. It is the responsibility of the Mandated Reporter to ensure that they obtain proper training in order to fulfill their reporting responsibilities as Required by the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and University policy, and to complete and submit the Required reports to the UC San Diego Police Department without delay.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $101,769 - $101,769 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $48.74 - $48.74

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
