Job Title:
Senior Mechanical Engineer (Creo)
Type of Position:
This position will begin as a 12-month contract, with strong potential for long-term employment. While the contract is initially set for 12 months, there is no fixed end date, and extensions beyond the initial term are possible. Conversion to a direct hire role may occur as early as 3 months, depending on individual performance and business needs. Although direct hire is not guaranteed, it is a common outcome for high-performing team members, and most contractors in this role do transition to permanent positions over time.
Candidate Requirements:
This role is working for a major defense contractor. Candidates must be either US Citizens or Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) to be eligible for this role. Candidates on CPT, OPT, H1B or TN visas are also not eligible for this role. This company is NOT open to corp2corp (c2c) or corp2hire (c2h). Offer may be contingent upon passing a background check and a drug screen (drug screen would include Cannabis).
Job Location:
Fridley, MN (hybrid role).
Compensation:
$59.56/hr to start. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours.

- This role will have 7 paid holidays and 6 days PTO (PTO accrues over time). In going direct hire, there will be significantly more PTO.
Overview:
HRU Technical Resources is partnering with a leading defense contractor to hire a Senior Mechanical Engineer in Fridley, MN. This role focuses on the design and development of mechanical systems such as ammunition handling equipment, gun systems, missile launchers, and related mechanisms. Responsibilities include technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of complex engineering challenges, as well as ensuring compliance with engineering standards and military specifications. The position also involves generating and updating technical documentation, contributing to reports and presentations, and creating parts and assemblies using PTC Creo Parametric 9.0.
Responsibilities:
- Developing and updating technical documentation, contributing to technical papers and presentations, and creating and maintaining product parts, assemblies, and drawings using PTC Creo Parametric 9.0 modeling software.
- Performing complex engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, testing, and product assurance tasks of limited complexity for assigned project portions.
- Solving moderately complex engineering problems with limited precedents.
- Ensuring tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements.
- Applying a broad range of engineering theory, principles, techniques, and practices to complex portions of technical projects.
- Maintaining effective relationships with customers.
- Keeping current with relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, and trends.
- Supporting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with safety policies and rules.
- Providing input to project leaders for developing project plans, schedules, and budgets.
Skills, Education, Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (although we may consider other similar degrees with relevant experience). Bachelors Degree or higher education is mandatory for this role.
- 4 years of relevant experience (or a Masters degree with 2 years experience).
- Proficiency in creating moderately complex solid models and mechanical designs using CAD systems (preferably PTC Pro-E or Creo).
- Ability to address moderately complex technical design and development problems requiring professional-level engineering knowledge.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience collaborating with internal or external manufacturing shops.
Skills, Education, Experience Preferred:
- Familiarity with military and commercial design standards.
- Experience with current computer applications and technologies relevant to engineering disciplines.
- Experience in a military product production environment.
- Experience in developing precision assembly tooling.
- Good working knowledge of GD&T principles (ASME Y14.52009 or 2018).
- Good working knowledge of Tolerance Stack Analysis.
- 2+ years of experience with Creo modeling and drawing generation.
- Experience with EPDM systems, preferably Windchill.
Work Environment:
- This is a 1st (day) shift role working on a 9/80 schedule. Typical hours are 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday to Friday (every other Friday off).
- There may be occasional overtime in this role. Any OT will be paid at 1.5x.
