Job Summary and QualificationsWe are seeking a strategic contract negotiator to join our team as a Contract Manager II focused on the surgery category. This role is responsible for negotiating industry-leading national agreements, ensuring best-in-class pricing, and securing favorable contract terms and conditions. The portfolio managed will represent an annual spend of $50M$100M , primarily across categories with low complexity, risk, and sensitivity .
Key Responsibilities
Sourcing & Contracting
- Lead the end-to-end sourcing process: market research, strategy development, RFI/RFP preparation, contract negotiation, and contract launch.
- Present strategies and award recommendations to internal stakeholders and customer-led advisory boards.
- Collaborate with legal to negotiate and finalize contract terms including pricing, indemnification, failure to supply, and more.
Strategy Development & Risk Mitigation
- Develop sourcing strategies that address member needs and mitigate risks.
- Understand the diverse requirements of HealthTrusts member base (for-profit, non-profit, acute, non-acute, etc.).
Project Management
- Maintain accurate project timelines and documentation in the Contract Lifecycle Management system.
- Translate objectives into actionable project plans and meet designated deadlines.
Category & Supplier Knowledge
- Build knowledge of supplier landscape including ownership, structure, market share, and supply chain.
- Understand or develop aptitude for the product/service categories within the nursing portfolio.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate internal team meetings and supplier negotiations.
- Present to and align with advisory boards composed of clinicians, supply chain executives, and subject matter experts.
Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with legal, finance, clinical, portfolio specialists, and account management teams.
- Support contract implementation and customer-facing initiatives.
Customer & Supplier Relationship Management
- Manage supplier relationships during sourcing and participate in business reviews.
- Resolve escalated issues and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 1+ years of experience in sourcing or contracting
- Healthcare experience with surgery-related categories is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective communicator and presenter, capable of aligning diverse stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial models.
- Professionalism under pressure and a collaborative team player.
