Job Title: Site Superintendent

Responsibilities

As a Site Superintendent , your key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Safety Compliance: Ensuring a safe working environment by following health and safety regulations. Promptly addressing any discrepancies with your direct supervisor.
  • Team Leadership: Supervising, coordinating, and scheduling on-site activities to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work Planning: Establishing efficient methods to meet project timelines while coordinating trade work.
  • Problem Solving & Productivity: Identifying work challenges, implementing solutions, and recommending strategies to enhance efficiency.
  • Contract Review & Communication: Evaluating revisions, changes, and contract additions alongside trade contractors, the Project Manager, and consultants.
  • Personnel Management: Overseeing hiring, wage rates, and promotions within established guidelines in collaboration with the Project Manager and the client.
  • On-the-Job Training: Organizing training sessions and mentoring crew members by sharing trade techniques and best practices.
  • Material & Supply Management: Procuring materials, verifying deliveries, and submitting signed packing slips to the Project Manager as required.
  • Daily Reporting: Completing and submitting standard Daily Reports to the Project Manager by the following morning.
  • Project Coordination: Attending monthly meetings with stakeholdersincluding Owners, Project Managers, Consultants, and Trade Contractorsto review project status and ensure adherence to budget and schedule.
  • Scheduling Oversight: Advising the Project Manager on scheduling issues and trade contract invoicing accuracy.
  • Quality Control: Confirming that construction materials and workmanship comply with contract documents, shop drawings, specifications, and referenced standards.
  • Inspection & Approval: Continuously monitoring workmanship and ensuring consultant approval before covering or closing out work.
  • Sample Handling: Logging required samples, notifying the Consultant for examination, recording approval status, and maintaining custody of approved materials.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Reporting non-conforming work or safety violations to the Project Manager and, when necessary, suspending work until issues are resolved.
  • Problem Resolution & Recommendations: Offering solutions to identified project challenges to both the Project Manager and Consultant.
  • Quality Control Documentation: Preparing and issuing standard Quality Control Review sheets detailing corrective actions for Trade Contractors and their respective deadlines.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Experience: Minimum five years of hands-on construction experience in a supervisory capacity.
  • Technical Expertise: Prior experience with wood-framed construction preferred.
  • Safety Certifications: Basic First Aid certification and knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems (WHMIS) .
  • Construction Knowledge: Strong understanding of methods, materials, building codes, drawings, and specifications.
  • Professional Attributes: Self-motivated, innovative thinker with excellent organizational skills.
  • Communication Abilities: Strong verbal and written skills for effective team collaboration.
  • Customer & Team Focus: Ability to maintain courteous, service-oriented interactions with all stakeholders.
  • Conflict Resolution Skills: Ability to handle pressure and problem-solve tactfully in fast-paced environments.
  • Financial Acumen: Familiarity with budgeting and cost estimation; spreadsheet and word processing skills preferred.
  • Integrity & Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Time Management: Proficiency in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines efficiently.
  • Technical & Software Proficiency: Strong keyboarding skills and experience with Microsoft Office Suite .
  • Licensing: Must hold a valid drivers license .
  • Lean Construction & IPD Experience: Prior exposure to Lean Construction tools and Integrated Project Delivery procurement is an asset.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
