What you'll do The Senior Project Support Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective organisational support services for a complex SATCOM sustainment program. The day-to-day Key responsibilities of the Senior Project Support Officer are: Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of project activities to ensure high quality and timely delivery. Support procurement, financial objectives, and risk mitigation initiatives, ensuring the resilience of critical infrastructure and the delivery of customer and organisational outcomes. Serve as the immediate point of contact and interface with customers, both internal and external, to understand customer requirements and provide status updates on scheduling, requests for service, and work order completion. Establish and maintain comprehensive project records and documentation related to site operations, ensuring structured resource management, transparency, and adherence to organizational processes. Track, analyse, and regularly report site performance through relevant Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), proactively identifying opportunities for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of site operations and security processes. Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational and site-related issues, ensuring prompt responses to building or infrastructure problems, security risks, and other operational challenges. Establish and maintain strategic relationships internally and externally, including engaging with local vendors, contractors, suppliers, Defence, and community partners to support efficient site operations. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring their needs and expectations are met throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and Defence personnel to enhance service delivery, workforce capability, and operational excellence. Assist in the development and execution of effective communication within the program and with stakeholders. Support the development and implementation of frameworks, policies, guidelines, and other resources that deliver program outcomes. What you'll need 5+ years of experience supporting major Defence industry programs comprised of multidisciplinary teams. Experience delivering projects within the Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG). Demonstrated experience using the ASDEFCON suite within a Defence acquisition or sustainment environment. Leadership qualities for guiding and motivating teams, including leading without authority, delegating tasks, providing clear directions, and encouraging collaboration. Display proactive and flexible project-oriented dedication, with the ability to work with a variety of groups including engineering, operations, logistics, and support services within Viasat. An ability to develop and maintain a service-oriented culture that provides high quality, reliable and timely support to the team. Superior oral and written communications skills, and interpersonal, stakeholder relationship management and conflict resolution skills. An understanding of information management at a governance level including demonstrated experience in professional standard minute taking. The ability to work autonomously whilst applying sound judgement and appropriate discretion and confidentiality. Strong organisation and workload management skills and the ability to confidently prioritise work as required. High level of competency in all Microsoft Office and related applications. High level of attention to detail. Ability to work cooperatively and flexibly to fulfil individual and team performance. An Australian driver's license. An AGSVA Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) security clearance. Meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements. What will help you on the job Broad technical understanding of satellite telecommunications processes, systems, infrastructure, and technologies. An understanding of service management principles, frameworks, and standard methodologies, including incident management, change management, problem management, and service level management. An understanding of project management principles, frameworks and standard methodologies, including Agile, Waterfall, and PRINCE2.
