Annual Benefit Allowance:

Job Description
Position Title : Land Surveyor Intern I-II
Division : 9

Trial Period: 12 Months
Note: Candidates selected for positions at the Oklahoma Department of Transportation may be required to complete a pre-employment background check, drug screening, and physical abilities test before beginning employment.
Basic PurposePositions in this job are assigned responsibility of continuing to gain experience and knowledge of the science and art required in implementing the professional skills of land surveying, geodetic surveying, American Land Title Association (ALTA) American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) surveys and dependent or independent surveys; or re-surveys of the public land system and serve as an expert witness for state and local agencies, consultants and the public. Incumbents accomplish this by performing a variety of surveying tasks, under the supervision of a licensed Professional Land Surveyor, by reviewing and evaluating the work of state and local agencies and consultants.
Typical Functions- Develops, prepares and/or reviews land and real property surveys.
- Develops, prepares and/or reviews geodetic surveys.
- Performs mission planning for Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys and establishment of High Accuracy Reference Network (HARN) within the state.
- Performs, analyzes and makes recommendations for/against acceptance of network adjustments/closures.
- Performs land title ownership, public, cooperative and private research.
- Reviews land and geodetic activities and makes recommendations for changes in policies and procedures.
- Conducts research, prepares reports and provides expert assistance on the implementation of the science and art of geodetic surveying.
- Prepares reports and analysis of land geodetic survey progress and critical path scheduling.
Level I
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of an associates degree in land surveying.
Level II
Education and Experience requirements at this level consist of registration as a Land Surveyor Intern by the Oklahoma State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors.
Some positions may require possession of a valid Oklahoma drivers license at the time of appointment. Some agencies may have determined positions in this job family to be safety sensitive as defined by63 O.S. 427.8.
