Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Instrument Operator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have the ability to operate survey equipment and perform essential field calculations while adhering to safety procedures. This role involves collecting field survey data for various types of surveys and maintaining a clean work environment.
Responsibilities
- Operate a total station instrument and data collector.
- Utilize a GPS rover effectively.
- Operate a level and read a level rod accurately.
- Perform basic field calculations.
- Cut and clear survey lines using hand tools.
- Maintain a clean work vehicle.
- Adhere to basic safety procedures.
- Take directions from Project Managers and coordinate work efficiently.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in operating total station instruments.
- Experience with data collection and land surveying.
- Strong data entry skills.
- Capability to work in a survey crew environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Formal training in a surveying-related field is a plus.
- Minimum 6 months to 1+ year experience in field surveying.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivation.
- Ability to work accurately and timely.
- High moral and ethical character.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
- Clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
Work Environment
The position requires collecting field survey data for various surveys including boundary, topographic, ALTA, wetland, and tree locations, as well as construction layout. The work schedule is Monday through Friday with occasional Saturdays, from 6:15 am to 4 pm, totaling 40-50 hours per week. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
