Qualifications:
- At least one of the following qualifications is required:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major
- Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with a relevant major and two (2) years of relevant experience
- High school diploma or equivalent and five (5) years of relevant experience with progressive increase in responsibilities
- Knowledge of school planning
- Knowledge of State Board Rule 2 (S.R.E.F.)
- Ability to read and understand architectural drawings and specifications
- Ability to work within the team concept
- Knowledge of construction procedures
- Basic computer skills and the ability to enhance computer skills
- Current Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- A minimum of five (5) years of supervisory/ administrative experience
*Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Assume responsibility and authority for Construction Services.
- Complete administrative assignments as requested by the Director to support the overall administration of the construction department.
- Assist in the training, supervision and evaluation of employees in the Construction Department.
- Assist in the development of plans, prioritizing assignments, and budgets and implementing programs of the Construction Department.
- Effectively plan and manage the District’s construction and renovation projects to meet facility programming needs while mentoring and supporting other project managers to do the same.
- Ensure that construction plans and documents are prepared on schedule and in accordance with District guidelines and State Department of Education rules while also providing additional review and guidance to other project managers for quality control.
- Review drawings for minor remodeling/renovation work to District facilities.
- Knowledge and application of contract administration.
- Maintain the management and record-keeping of construction contracts, programs, and scheduling of projects.
- Coordinates all phases and requirements of the Survey of educational Plants, Projects Priority List, Florida Inventory of School Houses (FISH) reports and prepares appropriate reports as needed.
- Assists staff and selected professionals in composing educational
- Inspects projects during construction and works with architects, other professional personnel, and contractors to assure timely completion of construction and adherence to specifications.
- Reports progress of all construction to the Director.
- Communicates effectively with stakeholders to keep them abreast of developments related to individual construction
