Summary of Job Duties: This position is located at Garvan Woodland Gardens, Hot Springs, ARThe General Mechanic requires expertise in maintaining heavy machinery while also possessing strong mechanical skills for servicing small engines, including lawn mowers, blowers, weed eaters, and other landscaping equipment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional with a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of equipment to ensure peak operational efficiency.
These duties include but not limited to:
Maintaining general heavy equipment such as excavators, loaders, bulldozers, graders, and other machinery for construction, excavation, and site preparation.
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Diagnose mechanical issues and conduct repairs on small engines, including lawn mowers, chainsaws, blowers, and trimmers.
Conduct preventative maintenance on all machinery, golf carts, and equipment, including lubrication, filter changes, belt replacements, and hydraulic system checks.
Troubleshoot and repair engine, electrical, and fuel system problems in heavy equipment, golf carts, and small engines.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and proper operating procedures.
Maintain detailed maintenance records and report any necessary repairs or issues to management.
Assist in parts inventory management and sourcing necessary components for repairs.
Train and assist other team members in the proper use and maintenance of equipment.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Proven experience maintaining heavy equipment in a construction, excavation, or related field
Strong mechanical skills with experience repairing and maintaining small engines and landscaping equipment.
Proficiency in troubleshooting engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems
Familiarity with tools and diagnostic equipment for heavy machinery and small engines
Valid driver's license
Preferred Qualifications:
CDL license
Certification in heavy equipment mechanics or diesel mechanics
Experience working with both gasoline and diesel engines
Welding and fabrication skills are a plus
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs):
Knowledge of tools and diagnostic equipment for heavy machinery and small engines
Knowledge and ability to repair and maintain small engines and landscaping equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to workplace safety
Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
