CNC Mill Operator Job Description The CNC Mill Operator will play a crucial role in maintaining product quality by re-milling parts as defects are identified. This position involves gathering, collecting, and inspecting product runs across the facility, testing and measuring manufactured parts, and remilling errors. The operator will work with a 4 Axis CNC machine, learn to manipulate programs, change headers, and troubleshoot issues independently. Intermediate to expert-level experience in CNC machine operations is necessary as entry-level candidates will not be considered. Responsibilities Operate and monitor a 4 Axis CNC machine, including changing machine codes. Perform Quality functions to support the Quality Lab, including testing, documenting, measuring, machining, and re-testing products. Conduct heavy documentation, data entry, data tracking, reporting, and software usage related to Quality information. Prevent non-conforming products from reaching final staging and reset machine programs as needed. Collaborate with a small team in the Quality Lab to ensure product specifications are met. Use hand grinders and grinding wheels to finish and polish dies between uses. Inspect dies using manual and digital tools and perform visual inspections. Utilize precision measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers to check dimensions. Handle kitting and assembly of dies and operate overhead cranes. Essential Skills 3-5 years of experience in CNC machine operations, Quality Lab Technician, and Metal Fabrication. Proficiency in mechanical, precision measurement, machine operation, and blueprint reading. Experience with measurement equipment such as calipers and micrometers. Additional Skills & Qualifications Candidates with strong metal fabrication skills are required. Experience in testing or Quality exposure is ideal. Why Work Here? Work Environment This role is located in a large Union plant with flexibility in pay structure. Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, temperatures above 80 degrees or below 40 degrees, and noise levels exceeding 85 decibels. The position requires long hours due to order backlog, with potential split shifts and weekend work. Typical hours are 7am-5pm, but may vary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of RICHMOND, Virginia. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
