JOB DESCRIPTION
About The Role
Prepares and finishes metal surfaces of trailers in preparation for painting process.
Responsibilities
Follows surface preparation specifications on trailers and accessories.
Follows supervisor/assistant supervisor's instructions.
Uses blasting equipment to remove rust, carbon, mill scale and weld spatter. May be required to use buffers and chippers etc. to clean hard to reach areas.
Handles and utilizes all material used in the blast areas in a safe manner.
Applies primer and topcoat to trailers
Repairs paint on trailers
Operates overhead crane in a safe manner.
Is familiar with all equipment used and is responsible for routine maintenance and upkeep.
Advises supervisor of any problems with sandblasting equipment or trailers.
Monitors supplies needed in area and updates supervisor as necessary.
Carefully prepares trailers for blasting or painting, by masking off key components on the trailer that are not blasted or painted.
Handles, stores and disposes of all hazardous materials properly. Successfully completes annual training.
Follow standard work and procedures.
Must adhere to all safety standards set by the company.
Performs axle alignments and adjusts brakes as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
Proficient in basic computer skills. Ability to accurately read a measuring tape and follow and read instructions. .

Physical demands: While performing duties of job, employee is required to stand; walk; sit; climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. At times, must use ladders to work at heights of up to 12 feet.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to changes in temperature and humidity, exposure to dust, fumes and is near moving machinery.
