We are looking for an I&E Construction Engineering Specialist to join our Site Services team in our Geismar.

This position will report to the NCG Instrument/Electrical and Controls Manager and provide construction oversight for the execution of small and medium sized capital projects and supplemental maintenance jobs designated as "engineering". You will coordinate the execution of all IEC construction work between the project management, design engineering, maintenance and operations groups as well as serve as the primary interface between BASF and the I&E contractors. In addition to coordination, this role provides technical expertise and consulting in the bidding, execution, and acceptance of work from the I&E contractors and 3rd party vendors. Your primary focus will be on electrical, instrumentation and controls construction activities. A secondary focus of this role during the time of ebbs & flows of capital work will be to assist IEC maintenance and reliability engineers with critical compliance program needs such as SIS, NFPA-85/86, DEQ and D-Risk PM review, setup, modification, and execution.
This position requires all candidates to either currently possess or obtain and maintain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security.

Using your construction, maintenance and/or engineering background you will administer and direct all construction activities for assigned projects/jobs to achieve project/job goals
Conduct or participate in meetings for bidding and awarding contracts, construction progress, and resolution of problems
Serve as principal BASF representative to the I&E Construction contractor on assigned projects/jobs as well as monitor and report contractor performance regarding safety, progress, cost, and quality of work
In cooperation with Project Managers and Engineers, authorize and make necessary field changes
Constantly vigilant to ensure that quantity and quality of materials, equipment, and contract labor meet BASF specifications
Represent maintenance in Project/Construction meetings to ensure key interfaces are proceeding and realistic project schedules are agreed on
Perform daily oversite of the projects (i.e. safety walks, tracking man hours of contractors working assigned jobs
Audit contractors work to ensure that the job scope is being followed, and execution efficiency is maintained

Bachelor's degree in engineering and minimum 8 years of construction, engineering, or maintenance-related experience or an associate degree or certificate and a minimum of 15 years of construction, maintenance, projects, or reliability experience in a petrochemical plant environment
Experience is preferred in a chemical plant environment, with construction, maintenance, or project execution experience
Familiarity with EHS and applicable construction safety regulatory standards
Familiarity with quality control techniques and their application in the construction industry and be able to manage non-technical phases of construction (e.g., planning and scheduling, receiving and handling systems etc.)

Experience using SAP/R3 Maintenance, Projects and Procurement modules
Leading Interactive construction Planning Sessions
Experience working with Microsoft Excel
Experience working with Intools
Demonstrated experience reading P&ID's and I&E Construction Drawings
