This role manages multi-year projects from inception to completion while meeting established budgets, timelines, and quality standards. The Construction Project Manager ensures compliance with building, mechanical, plumbing, and fire codes, guidelines from the State office of Education, district procedures, and Board objectives. The Construction Project Manager works closely and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders including district staff, city and county officials, transportation, engineering, and public utilities departments, architects, contractors, and community members. **This position is responsible for managing all aspects of capital projects, while ensuring that work sites are safe and functional, and completed projects will be conducive to a positive learning environment. The Construction Project Manager will be involved in strategic decision-making in the planning, design, and development of new construction projects, facility improvements, and long-term planning, ensuring that the district's planned projects support both current and future educational needs.**Reporting to the Assistant Director of Auxiliary Services, the Project Manager collaborates closely to develop and manage project budgets. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems and operations, as well as the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining open lines of communication with district leadership, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.** ***MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS***All positions require selected candidates to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a criminal background check.* Additional minimum required qualifications for this position are:1. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field2. Five (5) years of full-time, paid experience in project management, pre-construction planning, or closely related job duties3. Experience managing multi-year capital improvement projects4. Strong knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC), International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Plumbing Code (IPC), fire safety standards, and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance5. Experience using construction management software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM, Primavera, and similar platforms)6. Strong knowledge of local building and fire codes, and construction safety practices7. Current Utah Driver's License and evidence of insurability; regular travel to construction sites required8. Ability to operate standard office equipment, computer, phone, copy machine, scanner, etc.9. Speak, read, write, present professionally, analyze, and interpret English written and verbal communications **PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS***These are examples of skills and experience that the best-qualified candidates may have. Six (6) or more years full-time, paid experience in project management, pre-construction planning, or close y related job duties3. Experience managing large capital improvement projects with budgets that exceed $10 million4. Completion of OSHA 30-Hour Construction Training Course5. Strong technology proficiency with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software, tools, and systems **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES**1. Develop and oversee detailed project plans for new construction and renovation projects, ensuring alignment with district objectives and state guidelines2. Coordinate pre-construction activities, including feasibility studies, site evaluations, geotechnical and environmental assessments, and portable classroom relocations.3. Serve as the district's point of contact and liaison for architects, contractors, state/local agencies, utility companies, and other regulatory bodies to secure necessary permits and approvals and ensure effective project communication and decision making4. Use project management methodologies to conduct risk assessments and establish and monitor project schedules and budgets to ensure critical project milestones are achieved5. Evaluate project risks and develop mitigation strategies to address hazards, potential delays, and budget overruns6. Collaborate with architects and engineers to review designs and construction plans, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, including local building codes, ADA requirements, and district-specific needs7. Schedule and oversee plan reviews, bid openings, and pre-construction meetings to ensure all stakeholders align on project goals and requirements8. Act as a Building Code Official, overseeing mechanical, plumbing, ADA, and fire safety compliance throughout all project design and construction phases9. Serve as the district's ADA representative and address accessibility compliance during the design and construction process10. Provide leadership and guidance to internal teams and external consultants, ensuring clear communication and accountability11. Facilitate building committees, providing advice, and technical input during the design and decision-making processes12. Maintain open communication and provide regular project updates to district leadership, school administrators and district staff, ensuring their needs are appropriately integrated into project planning13. Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design records, construction plans, contractor communications, and regulatory approvals14. Prepare and present regular status reports for district leadership and project stakeholders, highlighting progress, challenges, and next steps15. Create and update records of substantial and final completion dates, change orders, proposal requests, and supplemental instructions16. Inspect and evaluate construction projects regularly to ensure adherence to contract documents, quality standards, and safety protocols17. Coordinate and collaborate with the district building code inspector, pre-construction managers, and others, providing direction and evaluating performance to maintain high standards18. Respond to inquiries, manage conflicts, and resolve issues that arise during the construction process, maintaining a positive and proactive approach to problem-s olving19. Work the schedule and hours required by project needs, which may include extended hours on mornings, evenings, and weekends20. Work under limited supervision, use time-management and prioritization strategies, adapt to changing work priorities, and work with frequent interruptions to meet deadlines21. Manage a wide variety of work activities to ensure district compliance with city, county, state, and federal regulations22. Research new products, laws, regulations, etc. to make recommendations and offer innovative solutions for project design, management, and completion23.
