Job Summary

The Design Engineer for Stamping Die is responsible for 3D CAD design of aluminum metal stamping tooling, including repairs, modifications, and new tooling.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • New Die Introduction - Management of new tooling procurement from prototype development through mass production.
    • Prepare departmental information in support of G-ESC (new product development procedure).
    • Perform design review of products for manufacturability / die making.
    • Determine required tooling and capacity for new programs.
    • Preparation of new die specifications & requests for quotation.
    • Complete die design review for locally made tooling.
  • Development of project schedule and tracking of progress.
    • New making monitoring for In-house made and outside made dies.
    • New die trial and stamping process development.
    • Tooling and product evaluation and validation.
    • Development of die adjustment requirements and plan.
    • Product quality evaluation.
    • New die approval for mass production.
  • Production / Manufacturing improvements.
    • Identification and resolution of mass production tooling issues
    • Implementation of quality and safety improvements for production
    • Generation and implementation of cost reduction ideas
  • Die design for modifications and repairs.
    • Mold design and implementation for product design changes.
    • Mold design and implementation for repairs and improvements.
  • Technical troubleshooting of metal stamping dies and production equipment related issues.
  • Creation and maintenance of IATF documentation (e.g. PFMEA, Control Plans & Process Control Charts).
    • Lead cross-functional team kaizen activities for improvements in productivity, quality, safety, and cost.
  • Provide input for department KPIs/G&Os and budget planning

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • Work experience in stamping die design and processing.
  • Work experience in project management.
  • Experience with 3D CAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Highly motivated and technically competent.
  • Innovative problem solver.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and lead cross functional groups.
  • Ability to coordinate and work on numerous projects simultaneously.
  • Willing to work overtime when required.
  • Willing to travel to support other DENSO group companies, customers and suppliers in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 plus years of experience in die design and tooling project management.
  • Hands on stamping die and equipment experience.
  • Proficient in the use of UG NX software.

Salary: $64,000-$80,000
