Position Overview

Based out of 491 Central Road, Fredericksburg, VA | Work radius within 50 miles
Full-time | $56,160 – $73,110 per year

This role requires hands-on experience operating a range of heavy equipment, particularly with fine grading tasks. Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise with dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, and motor graders. Work is performed on commercial construction sites within a 50-mile radius of Fredericksburg, VA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment to perform fine and rough grading to precise specifications (+/- 0.1’), including GPS-guided work.
  • Interpret and follow site plans and construction blueprints.
  • Maintain job site safety by adhering to all safety procedures and company policies.
  • Assist with general labor tasks including grade setting, silt fence installation, and site preparation.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and inspections, report issues, and keep equipment clean and lubricated.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to meet project deadlines.

Required Qualifications

  • Punctual and dependable.
  • 5+ years of experience operating heavy equipment with an emphasis on fine grading.
  • Proficiency with dozers, excavators, graders, and other heavy machinery.
  • Strong understanding of grading principles, slope creation, drainage control, and site preparation.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and grading specifications.
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Physically capable of performing outdoor manual labor in a variety of weather conditions.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screening.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years’ operating heavy equipment in commercial site development.
  • Experience with GPS-grade control systems is a plus.
