MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.
Position Salary Range: $8,578- $12,867 per month
The anticipated hiring range for this position is $11,000 - $12,300 per month.
Salary is commensurate with experience.

About the Department/Position:
The Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) department at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) is dedicated to managing and overseeing all campus development projects. The department ensures that all construction, renovation, and maintenance projects align with the university's strategic goals and standards.
Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President for Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC), the Senior Project Manager at CSUDH provides strategic leadership and oversight for all phases of campus construction projects. This role supervises project management staff and guides the planning, design, construction, and inspection of campus development initiatives.
Overview of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the planning, design, construction, and inspection of all campus projects.
- Responsible for selecting and overseeing architectural, engineering, landscaping, and construction firms.
- Ensure the department maintains a partnership and customer service-oriented approach in its goals and activities.
- Build productive working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and the community to ensure effective, collaborative, and innovative direction for campus construction and expansion.
- Represent the University in dealings with community, city, county, state, and federal agencies.
- Work directly with the Campus Facilities Planner/Space Manager and campus stakeholders in programming, planning, designing, and constructing physical spaces owned, leased, and/or operated by CSUDH.
- Conduct successful public and stakeholder coordination, complete feasibility studies, prepare and give presentations.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of constituents both on campus and in the Business and Finance Office.
- Conduct research, analysis, and development of plans and technical reports and presentations.
- Review, analyze, and interpret technical, environmental, and economic data, and prepare RFQs/RFPs and essential architectural concepts.
- Provide effective leadership and team management, organizing and managing teams including internal design and operations staff, external contractors, and technical consultants specializing in programming, planning, and design.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field.
- Equivalent to five (5) years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience in a related area; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge:
- Construction Management: Understanding of construction methodologies, safety regulations, and local building codes.
- Project Management: Familiarity with project management principles, tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project), and best practices.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of architectural, engineering, and landscaping principles.
- Regulatory Compliance: Awareness of city, county, state, and federal regulations affecting construction projects.
Skills:
- Leadership: Ability to lead and manage multidisciplinary teams, including internal staff and external contractors.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective stakeholder management and presentations.
- Problem-Solving: Proficiency in identifying issues, developing solutions, and implementing strategies to mitigate risks.
