About This Role

As a Lead Field Engineer, you will be crucial to ALCs business through the field commissioning of building automation systems created specifically for each individual customer. We are looking for a team member who is self-motivated, detail oriented, customer focused, and acts as a role model for other field engineers. You will work to solve complex problems, lead in training of less experienced Field Engineers, and serve as a contact in the field as a product and technical expert.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Start up, commission, re-commission customer Building Automation Systems
  • Provides solutions to complex systems problems either troubleshooting the system or advising others on how to resolve problems. Works with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation.
  • Be able to provide turnkey project delivery on medium to large projects
  • Large complex AHUs (Multi-Zone/VFD/Mult-coil)
  • Complex CW systems (Redundant/Pri-Sec Loops)
  • Sequenced HW Systems with 3 or more boilers
  • EPMS/Third Party integrations with assistance
  • 3rd party networks
  • Complete all required commissioning documentation. Maintains accurate As-Built drawing package and makes changes in EDS, Visio, Excel, Word, as required.
  • Completes paperwork on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reports
  • Responsible for total system operation from controllers to sensors, loading software, interfacing with third party systems, Sets up trends, alarms and reports and works with customer IT personnel, etc.. Calibrates systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/ or a laptop computer.
  • Performs static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programming.
  • Performs site-specific training for owner/operator on the total system.
  • Responsible for set up of operator workstations with all associated software.
  • Responsible for performing job database backups on a daily basis or as advised.
  • Assists with project turnover to the Service Department
  • Communicates with customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site. Tracks and records job progress and keeps customer informed on progress. Reviews customers systems and, if needed, points out areas of improvement and scope issues to project manager. Keeps project management apprised of customer concerns and issues.
  • Maintain a daily log of all pertinent job related activities
  • Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of HVAC and/or HVAC controls experience
  • 50% Travel required
  • Possess and maintain valid and current Drivers License and be insurable by the companys insurance carrier.
  • Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment in excess of 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Electronics, or IT.
  • Field experience and a complete understanding of the installation and operation of Automated Logic Controls and knowledge and understanding of third party control systems and integrations.
  • Proficient with advanced building automation software, such as WebCTRL, and installing building automation controls.
  • Experience interacting with a large and diverse number of simultaneous challenges, requiring knowledge of multiple disciplines.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Excellent communication skills as well as the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft 365 applications.

Pay Range:

$76,516 - $107,122 Annually
