EPS Design Engineer-KS

Location: Olathe, KS

JOB DIMENSIONS :

Job Summary :

Under general supervision, apply engineering principles and understanding to EPS product development and EPS product support projects; generate designs and drawings in accordance with specification requirements; access ERP database for item/BOM information and utilize dashboards to track and provide visibility on progress. Perform related duties as assigned.

General Manager

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Coordinate with Outside Sales in the review of project specifications;
  • Confirm with Outside Sales the technical requirements within specifications;
  • Utilizes AutoCAD to produce models, assemblies, and drawings;
  • Guides the development and preparation of engineering data for drawings and specifications;
  • Provides functional direction in the design, construction, and testing of designs;
  • Offers technical advice or guidance to others;
  • Assist in resolving quality control issues;
  • Assemble data packages with all drawings;
  • Handle all customer inquiries related to assigned responsibilities;
  • Interact with other departments such as engineering, production control and purchasing regarding the status of customer orders;
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel to perform engineering calculations and analysis using existing templates;
  • Utilizes SyteLine ERP to access inventory and production databases;
  • Generates procedures and test plans for product qualifications and performance validation;
  • Coordinates project tasks;
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned;
  • Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
  • Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.

QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES :

Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:

Experience/ Education :

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
  • General hands-on knowledge of basic drafting practices (form, fit, function, and dimensional tolerances) and a solid command of advanced drafting practices per Y14.5;
  • Experience with designing piping systems with ductile iron and fabricated steel pipe is a plus ;
  • Experience with products used in hydraulic principles, material properties, and pipe systems, such as valves, meters, and pressure vessels;
  • Firm grasp of hydraulics in potable water systems;

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities :

  • AutoCAD fluency and the ability to independently generate drawings;
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet software programs such as Microsoft Excel;
  • Extensive knowledge of computer operation, applicable computer language, AutoCAD and SolidWorks CAD software programs.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic drawings;
  • Ability to make layout drawings from simple sketches;
  • Ability to perform complex mathematical calculations;
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to analyze and solve design and engineering problems;
  • Ability to interact effectively with staff, vendors, and customer representatives;
  • Ability to meet project deadlines; and
  • Ability to create new product designs that can be easily manufactured;
  • Ability to operate computer and computer-aided drafting programs to access, enter and update various engineering designs and customer data and to produce or update designs, drawing or specifications and related correspondence or documentation;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with vendors, staff, and customer representatives; and
  • Ability to fluently communicate (read, write, and speak) in the English language.

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, filing cabinets, photocopiers, and other office equipment, as applicable;
  • Ability to use a computer to access, enter and update various engineering, design, and customer data and to produce or update designs, drawing or specifications and related correspondence or documentation;
  • Ability to use basic hand tools to build and test products.
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors where the temperature is moderate and controlled by office environment systems;
  • Ability to work (sit and/or stand) at a desk for majority of the workday; walking and/or standing may be required for the remainder of the workday. Length of time performing these physical requirements may vary from day to day and task to task;
  • Requires grasping, writing, sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motions, pushing, listening, and hearing ability, and visual acuity;
  • Ability to occasionally reach, lift and/or carry files, materials, and/or records weighing up to 15 lbs. ; and
  • Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined;
