Job Summary
Cut, form, roll and weld parts into assemblies in accordance with blueprints such as stairs, ladders, railings and/or structural and custom jobs. Ideal candidates will have the ability to complete projects on time, in spec and within budget. Reports to the Fabrication Project Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Adheres to all company policies and OSHA safety rules & regulations
- Takes swift action to stop any imminent danger situations you may encounter
- Promptly reports all accidents including minor first aid, property damages, and near misses;
- Conducts daily workplace exams; identifies and promptly resolves potential hazards or immediately barricades area or equipment and contacts NAMS and/or the customer's safety team to resolve
- Fabricates steel and other metal parts according to blueprints
- Layout
- Uses measuring tools to inspect work
- Preassembles fabricated items
- Sets up and operates plasma table, press brakes, shear, metal saw, iron worker, plate rolls, welding machines (GMAW, SMAW, GTAW), milling machines, and lathe
- Maintains tools and equipment
- Practices good housekeeping; keeps work area clean and organized
- Assists with fabrication/machining tasks as assigned
- Assists with installation in the field as needed
- Other projects and duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED; completion of a technical trade program and/or certification preferred
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a machine shop, or other industrial setting
- Basic math skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read drawings, plans, and blueprints and convey this information to others
- Ability to communicate effectively including interpersonal skills; must be a team player
- Attention to detail
- Good physical condition and stamina
- Must have own tools/tool box
- Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Physical Requirements
- Frequently required to walk, sit, stand, balance, stoop, bend, push, pull, lift, reach, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb stairs/ladders and use of hands
- Must have vision, hearing, and ability to talk
- Most work is indoors with exposure to hot/cold temperatures
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to travel independently throughout multiple NAMS facilities including customer job sites
