Purpose of the Position:
Prepares cost estimates by analyzing proposals, drawings, and requirements for a job/ project.
Essential job functions:
- Prepares work to be estimated in detail for all products by gathering proposals, drawing information, specifications, and related documents
- Identifies material and labor (if required) by studying proposals, drawings, specifications, and related documents
- Reviews and evaluates cost estimates
- Computes costs and prepares cost analysis
- Communicates with vendors/ suppliers and company personnel regarding new and current projects
- Ensures timely completion of estimates
- Understands scope of work to bid
- Manages bid pricing from vendors/ suppliers
- Maintains cost data base by entering and backing up data
Marginal job functions:
- Performs other activities as assigned
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Computer skills a must.
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office.
- Experienced in Made2Manage ERP program or able to learn quickly.
- Skilled to work in a high-stress/fast-paced work environment.
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3+ years' experience in construction estimating
- Able to read drawings and develop cost estimates
- Attention to detail
Physical Demands:
Hours: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Week: 40-50 hrs Lunch: 1 hr
(Overtime may be required based on shop needs but must be pre-approved by management.)
