MEP Superintendent

The MEP Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing scopes of large-scale commercial construction projects. This role ensures that MEP systems are installed correctly, safely, and in accordance with contract documents, project schedules, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in managing subcontractors, coordinating complex system installations, and maintaining productive relationships with project teams and field personnel.

Primary Duties

  • Collaborate with preconstruction and design teams to review MEP scopes and ensure constructability.
  • Evaluate drawings, specifications, and submittals to proactively identify coordination or schedule challenges.
  • Assist in the development of MEP-specific schedules and logistics plans.
  • Oversee and coordinate all MEP field activities, including daily subcontractor work, inspections, and testing.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, quality expectations, and compliance with all applicable codes and regulations.
  • Support and enforce the project safety plan in partnership with the Safety Manager.
  • Supervise MEP subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and execution of work.
  • Work closely with the project team to monitor field personnel assignments and manage labor resources.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors and field teams.
  • Lead MEP coordination efforts in conjunction with BIM/VDC teams.
  • Identify and resolve field conflicts through collaboration with design teams and subcontractors.
  • Ensure smooth integration of MEP systems with architectural and structural components.
  • Maintain and review daily logs for MEP work.
  • Track progress against the MEP schedule and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
  • Support the preparation of RFIs, change orders, and punch lists as related to MEP scopes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Technology, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience as an MEP Superintendent OR 15+ years in construction with 2-5 years specifically managing MEP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in commercial construction (healthcare, data centers, life sciences, etc. preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience reading and interpreting MEP drawings and technical documents.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with construction management software and scheduling tools (Procore, Bluebeam, P6, etc.).

The full salary range for this position is $110,000 to $160,000. This position is eligible for a target bonus.

Note: Sick leave accrues at one (1) hour for every 30 hours worked. Accrual for sick leave is capped at 240 hours.
