The Purchasing Manager facilitates the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for the operations. The duties include researching raw materials suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, and developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials. The Purchasing Manager will create the internal purchasing processes through SAGE and various departments in each company.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee or delegates responsibility for the day-to-day workflow of the department and staff.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Individual contributor with purchasing responsibility for sister companies within the construction industry
  • Create the external purchasing processes for the company
  • Refine and develop internal company practices and procedures
  • Extend the use of company accounting system to include purchasing applications
  • Establish big-picture sourcing strategy
  • Manage supplier relationships
  • Negotiate contracts and formulate policies with suppliers
  • Drive cost savings
  • Provide analytics to support management team
  • Owns cost of goods budget
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

  • BS/BA in construction management, business, supply-chain, or similar
  • 5 to 8 years of purchasing experience
  • Construction background preferred but not required.
  • SAGE accounting system a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
