Summary

The Equipment Operator will work collaboratively with the Laborers and Foremanfor completion of jobsite activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Ability to operate various pieces of heavy equipment, including excavators,loaders, dozers, graders, rollers, backhoes, etc.Use various pieces of equipment to perform fine grading and finishing,sloping, and banking, backfilling, demolition, ditching, loading, excavating,and stockpiling.Utilize GPS systems, read and understand grade stakes and hubs for gradecontrol and finishingEnsure adherence to safe work practices and proceduresWork outdoors on location in all weather conditions and on all terrainPerform daily safety and maintenance checks on equipmentRepair or assist in the repair and maintenance of the construction vehiclesPerform preventive maintenance on equipment as required including fluid andfilter changes and parts lubricationClean equipment as scheduled or when requiredEnsure equipment is safely and securely stored when finished for the dayPractice workplace safety per OSHA standardsAbility to work independently and to stay on top of the scheduleWillingness to do work outside of equipment operations, which includes butis not limited to general labor workMaintains a neat appearance and dresses appropriately for the jobGood attendanceIs a team player, and communicates wellPresents a positive attitude about the company and the job

Education and/or Experience

Proven ability to operate heavy equipmentValid driver/operator licenseHigh school diploma or equivalent or at least one year of experienceKnowledge of light and heavy equipment operation and maintenanceKnowledge of basic equipment and vehicle inspection and maintenanceincluding tire pressure, checking oil and water levelsAbility to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety proceduresMust always present a professional image, representing self and company in aprofessional, courteous and respectful manner when dealing with customers,vendors, employees and the publicSkilled with various hand and power toolsCompetent operating excavators, backhoe, trencher, etc.

Physical Requirements

Sit, stand, and walk continuously throughout the scheduled workdayStand, reach, drive and use fine motor skills frequently throughout the dayBend, kneel, squat, and climb throughout the workdayLift from 10 to 150 poundsWork both indoors and outdoors, exposed to all weather conditions and may bein loud environmentsMust work in a manner that will not jeopardize the health and safety ofhim/herself or others

Language Skills

Must be able to read and comprehend English
