Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will lead, design, and provide advanced solutions for integration into autonomous systems, focusing on military and commercially available oceanography products. You will be responsible for performing product life cycle analysis and developing technical data packages for new and existing designs. This role requires working within a cross-functional design team to carry designs through first article testing, integration, and manufacturing delivery, applying mechanical engineering principles to research, develop, design, and test verified solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Support new development and manufacturing efforts in mechanical design and implementations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in material selection for underwater applications with corrosion considerations, structural analysis, electronic packing, CAD, and solid work modeling (SolidWorks).
  • Communicate designs and issues to corresponding departments.
  • Research, develop, and plan designs of mechanical and electromechanical products for underwater applications.
  • Oversee and coordinate activities involved in the fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of mechanical or electromechanical products and systems.
  • Support Sales and Marketing Departments with engineering special quotes.
  • Provide documentation for manufacturing support and design.
  • Estimate labor and cost of materials for designs and applications.
  • Build prototypes and test fixtures for new designs or updates to existing designs and products.
  • Perform project management duties as assigned.
  • Communicate and support the efforts of each department with mechanical designs and implementations.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in mechanical design, new product development, GD&T, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
  • Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) and/or Integrated Logistics Support (ILS).
  • Knowledge of Enterprise PDM (EPDM) in support of 3D modeling tools.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a related field, 3 years with a Master's, or no experience required with a PhD or Juris Doctorate in a related field.
  • Manufacturing/Design experience with marine products.
  • Familiarization with mechanical engineering standards.
Work Environment

This position is onsite at the client location in Pocasset, MA. The work environment is collaborative and involves working closely with various departments to ensure seamless integration of designs into manufacturing.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.50 - $60.00/hr.
