Machine Operator II Job Description As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating current machinery, bundling steel as it comes off the production line, placing it on carts, and ensuring its movement to appropriate areas. You will also maintain a clean working area, addressing debris and scrap metal from the lines, and actively engaging in additional tasks when lines are down, such as sweeping, organizing, or assisting other employees. Responsibilities Assist Machine Operator in machine setups and changeovers, including removal and replacement of tooling rolls, cut-off dies, punch dies, and other components. Accumulate products from the machine and safely stack them onto company pallets. Learn and apply packaging requirements, including writing pallet descriptions, applying stickers, spray painting gauge colors, and operating banding machines. Operate Jib crane safely to maneuver slit coils onto machine uncoilers. Read and use a tape measure for quality control purposes, including measuring product dimensions and slit coil specifications. Follow the Helper Housekeeping procedure daily at shift end, ensuring cleanliness around machine perimeter. Read, understand, and apply safety practices from the CEMCO general safety rules manual. Remove punch out bins from presses for forklift pick up when full. Safely operate wood chop saws and metal cut off saws for custom length cutting. Learn and apply company standards such as gauge identification and inventory control. Assist with maintaining and acquiring necessary production supplies at the machine. Conduct basic daily maintenance of machines, such as oiling, greasing, and cleaning. Safely remove scrap from the machine throughout the day and place it in designated bins. Work at special work stations using various tools and equipment. Assist with inline welding processes, including coil strip alignment, shearing, clamping, and selecting weld quality ranges. Consult with your supervisor if unsure of any duties. Essential Skills At least 1 year operating machinery within an industrial or manufacturing environment Ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking assistants Ability to stand for entire shift Ability to push, pull, move, and lift up to 40 lbs Strong safety consciousness Additional Skills & Qualifications Bilingual strongly preferred (Spanish) High School Diploma/GED Open to experience as candidates will be trained on all procedures Open to working 1-2 hours of overtime per day and Saturdays if converted to permanent Strong initiative Ability to perform basic addition and subtraction Why Work Here?
