Senior Estimator - Heavy Civil - Long Beach, CA Salary: $130,000 - $180,000 Location: Long Beach, CA (Western Region) A leading heavy civil contractor is currently seeking an experienced Senior Civil Estimator to join their Western Region estimating team based in Long Beach, California. This position plays a critical role in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including structures, roadways, underground utilities, and earthworks. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of both traditional bid-build and alternative delivery methods such as CMAR, CMGC, and Progressive Design-Build. Key Responsibilities: Prepare detailed cost estimates across all scopes of civil infrastructure projects. Interpret and analyse project plans and specifications. Utilize HCSS HeavyBid software to develop and manage comprehensive project estimates. Solicit and evaluate material and subcontractor quotations. Maintain detailed documentation and current pricing information. Collaborate with project teams to support value engineering and risk assessment. Mentor junior estimating staff and contribute to proposal preparation. Recommend design and construction alternatives based on cost, quality, and availability. Qualifications: 10+ years of estimating experience, preferably on large highway or heavy civil projects. Strong knowledge of all major scopes within civil construction. Familiarity with Caltrans standards and specifications is preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word and Excel); Bluebeam Revu experience preferred. Proficient with HCSS HeavyBid or similar estimating software. Experience with project scheduling (CPM) is a plus. Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
