RK&K is hiring a Survey Instrument Operator for our Land Surveying Group in Keyser, WV. In this role, you will work on various types of land surveys including topographical, boundary/right-of-way, as built, planimetric and ALTA/NSPS surveys.
Essential Functions
Work on a 2 or 3-person survey crew to complete fieldwork for survey projects
Be proficient in the use of Leica and Trimble conventional and robotic total stations and data collectors
Be proficient in the operation of Leica GPS receivers and data-collectors
Be able to operate a conventional level and digital level instruments
Be able to download field data each day and store in project directories
Ability to keep proper and accurate field notes
Ability to review survey projects with survey technicians
Required Skills and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience as an Instrument Operator performing topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys.
Must have knowledge and experience with modern survey equipment including maintenance, cleaning and adjusting survey instruments
Use proper survey procedures and methods to complete surveys
Must use survey equipment and tools safely and properly
Must be able to operate basic Microsoft Office Applications and laptop
Good written and verbal communication skills
Must be very punctual and reliable
Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
Ability to pass a background check
Physically able to walk long distances and stand for up to 2 hours at a time and lift up to 30 pounds
Must be physically able to perform multiple field tasks in different weather conditions
Preferred Skills and Experience
Minimum three (3) years of experience as an instrument operator performing topographical, boundary/right of way, as-built, planimetric, laser scanning and ALTA/NSPS Surveys
Maryland State Highway Administration surveys experience
