Supervisor / Leaderman Location: Harvey, LA Position Type: Full-Time Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 per year Position Overview: An established, family-owned industrial machining and fabrication company with over 45 years of service in the Greater New Orleans area is seeking a Supervisor / Leaderman to oversee daily operations in its machine shop. This role involves managing a team of machinists and fabricators, ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining quality standards, and upholding safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: Team Leadership & Supervision: Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of machinists and shop personnel. Assign daily tasks and monitor performance to ensure productivity and quality standards are met. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members. Production Oversight: Plan and schedule daily production activities to meet customer demands and deadlines. Ensure that all machining and fabrication work is completed according to specifications and quality standards. Monitor work progress and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes or delays. Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all products meet or exceed customer expectations. Inspect completed work for accuracy and adherence to specifications. Address and resolve any quality issues promptly to maintain high standards. Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and address potential hazards. Provide training to team members on safe work practices and the proper use of equipment. Maintenance & Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of shop equipment and machinery. Coordinate with maintenance personnel to schedule repairs and preventive maintenance. Ensure that tools and equipment are properly maintained and available for use. Customer Interaction & Communication: Coordinate with customers to ensure job scopes are accurate and requirements are met. Communicate effectively with customers regarding project status, timelines, and any issues that may arise. Maintain professional relationships with customers and address any concerns promptly. Qualifications: Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship preferred. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a machine shop environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role. Experience in machining, fabrication, or industrial mechanics is required. Skills & Abilities: Strong leadership and team management skills. Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, as well as shop machinery. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods. Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
